Peer review process
Český časopis historický/The Czech Historical Review publishes original scholarship. Submissions included in the section Studies undergo an anonymous peer review process under which at least two reviews are prepared by two independent reviewers (double-blind peer review). In case when the reviewers differ significantly in their evaluation of the text, a third, decisive review is commissioned.
The result of the double-blind peer review process, which typically takes approximately eight weeks, is a recommendation of the text for publication without changes, publication after taking into account the comments and revisions, or rejection. The publication of a paper recommended for publication by the reviewers is subject to approval by the Scientific Board. The result of the peer review process and the decision of the Scientific Board is communicated to the authors by the Editorial Office.
Papers published in the journal also undergo an editorial revision, which includes formal and spelling unification. Double-blind peer review is considered a key aspect of maintaining the high standard of the journal and the texts published in it.
Manuscripts sent to the Editorial Office are not returned and no fees are paid to authors.
The Czech Historical Review is published four times a year (in March, June, September and December). It typically takes several months for a submitted paper to be published. However, the deadline for publication and the inclusion of papers in individual issues are determined by the Editorial Office and the Scientific Board. The Editorial Office is not responsible for delays caused by the peer review process.
