Publication ethics

The Česká literatura journal conforms to international standards for editors and authors, and the procedures recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for editors, authors, reviewers, the editorial board, as well as transparency principles that comply with principles of international organizations supporting sound practice in the field of scholarly publication (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, WAME).

Editors’ duties and responsibilies:

  • The editor is responsible for all the published content in the journal;
  • decides which contributions are to be published;
  • makes decisions on the publication of contributions based on the relevance of the contribution in view of the journal’s objectives, uninfluenced by political or commercial interests;
  • is responsible for dealing with any complaints.

Authors’ duties and responsibilies:

  • authors are to present the results of their scholarly work in an honest manner without falsification or fabrication of data;
  • authors are only to submit original works that are not plagiarized or self-plagiarized and have not been published elsewhere;
  • an author is not to offer a work that s/he has sent to Česká literatura for review, to any other journal or publisher;
  • the authors are to collaborate with the editorial office if reviewers have suggested reworking the contribution, correctly citing all relevant sources and complying with the rules set out in the Instructions for Authors;
  • authors have an obligation to detail sources of funding and any conflicts of interest.

Authorship

The author is responsible for ensuring that his/her contribution does not infringe copyright. The criteria for the recognition and attribution of authorship should be agreed at the beginning of the research work. The author agrees that only authors who have made significant contributions to the work will be listed as co-authors.

Reviewers’ duties and responsibilies:

  • The reviewer is to be objective and provide constructive feedback, act professionally and avoid inappropriate personal insults;
  • to assess contributions honestly, fairly and without bias;
  • the reviewer is to respect the deadline agreed for drawing up the review assessment;
  • in the event of a conflict of interest, the reviewer must immediately notify the editorial office of this fact.

Editorial board members’ duties and responsibilies:

  • to actively contribute towards the development of the journal, act as ambassadors for the journal, support and promote the journal;
  • to seek high-standard authors;
  • to take part in editorial board meetings;
  • to support free speech and a plurality of views;
  • to oversee compliance with the rules of the journal.
