Instructions for authors
The Česká literatura journal is a peer-reviewed specialist journal, which thus requires the contributions sent for publication to comply with formal specialist requirements.
The journal accepts manuscripts in Czech and Slovak at the editorial office email address (ceslit@ucl.cas.cz) in docx, doc and odt text formats. By sending a contribution, authors agree to the processing of their personal data, which serves editorial office purposes only.
The journal’s editorial office categorizes contributions as follows:
-
Studies: substantial research papers 20-40 standard pages in length (one standard page = 1800 key depressions);
-
Surveys: shorter, thematically diverse, research, reception and discussion articles up to 20 standard pages in length;
-
Texts: translation methodology articles up to 35 standard pages in length;
-
Reviews: up to 10 standard pages;
-
Chronicles and glosses: informative texts up to 5 standard pages in length.
In the case of articles placed in the Studies and Horizons review sections, an English summary of approx 0.5 standard page in length is required with keywords in Czech and English. Articles in this category are assigned a permanent DOI identifier.
Articles are published in the pages of the printed Česká literatura journal and at the same time they are made available online for free in Open Access mode via the CAS Digital Library. Texts are also distributed by means of scholarly, bibliographic and citation databases, digital libraries and information systems for the provision of information services (e.g. CEEOL, JSTOR). Articles are published under licence CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 and the authors are the copyright and publishing rights holders. The journal does not require any fees from authors for editing and publishing their articles.
Under the decision of the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation an obligation is imposed upon researchers as of 1.7.2020 (Act on Support, Research, Experimental Development and Innovation No. 50/2020 Coll. as amended) to reference institutional affiliations and grant support information on the use of research infrastructures in their publication output. The research infrastructures in what is known as the Czech Roadmap have also included the Czech Literary Bibliography (CLB), operated at the Institute of Czech Literature, CAS since 2016.
If an author has made use of the CLB (or any other research infrastructure) in his/her work, s/he is obliged to refer to this fact in the following manner:
“The resources of the Czech Literary Bibliography research infrastructure were used in the creation of this work [book/study] – https://clb.ucl.cas.cz/ (code ORJ: 90243).”
Published contributions are subject to editing, as well as formal and spelling harmonization.
In the cover letter the author must provide his/her full name including titles, workplace/affiliation and full contact address, including the e-mail address. The following declaration is also to be attached to the text: “The present text has not yet been published. It is an original text and is not at present being offered to any other editorial office for publication.”
The author of a text destined for any section shall supply his/her ORCID with the text, in which the affiliation is filled in.
