Slovo a slovesnost is a refereed scholarly journal devoted to the theory of language and language cultivation. It was founded in 1935 as a periodical of the Prague Linguistic Circle. It features original articles in the areas of grammar, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, stylistics, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, text linguistics, psycholinguistics, semiotics, translation theory, literary theory and the like, with a focus on languages used in the European space.

Slovo a slovesnost publishes research and discussion articles, book reviews and reports on conferences and other events in the linguistics community. The languages of publication are Czech, Slovak, English, German, French and Russian.
