Abstrakt: The study focuses on proper names that appear in memes found on social media (Facebook, X, Instagram) and relate to the current phase of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. By searching using hashtags and the “snowball” method, I managed to collect 95 memes, mostly in English, which functions as a lingua franca. I was only interested in memes that creatively work with proper names in various ways. I analyze the linguistic means used in this process, how intertextuality and time framing work in memes, etc. The study also looks at who the authors and the recipients of the memes are, who becomes their target, and how the content of the message and narratives is conveyed. I consider memes to be a valuable historical source for the future, illustrating the current “battle for image” between the two opposing sides in the realm of so-called civic diplomacy.
