Abstrakt: A couple of years ago, a Celtic coin hub has been discovered at the Umlaufberg near Altenburg. The tool was used for creating reverse dies for the production of obols of the Roseldorf III type. The Umlaufberg site apparently was an important center of Celtic coin production in Lower Austria during the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, as at least two more coin dies are known from the site, which are also presented here. The paper provides a detailed technical analysis of the coin hub and, based on that, goes into the details of the manufacturing process of the hub and the coin dies created with it. Individual coins that can be demonstrated to be orginating from this tool are identified, a distribution map of the Roseldorf III emission is provided, and a dating of this coin type is proposed.
