Abstract: In 2025, a rescue excavation in the cadastral area of the village of Jizerní Vtelno uncovered an early medieval cemetery consisting of 17 graves. In two of these graves, deniers of Vratislav II (1061–1086–1092) were found, used in the role of the so-called ‘obol of the dead’. The find illustrates the custom of placing coins – known as the ‘obol of the dead’ – in graves as part of burial rites in early medieval Bohemia.
