Abstrakt: This study examines the functioning of cultural memory in the borderland landscape of the Teschen region from the perspective of historical geography. It is based on the premise that landscape is not merely a passive framework of historical processes, but an active medium in which various layers of memory and meaning operate over the long term. Using the concept of the memory regime as a heuristic tool, the study distinguishes two coexisting modes of structuring cultural memory: a locally embedded memory regime associated with the imperial past and an institutionally mediated memory regime oriented toward the contemporary supranational context. The study demonstrates that these memory regimes in the landscape of the Teschen region do not exclude one another but coexist over the long term and significantly contribute to the maintenance and formation of the region’s historical continuity.
