Aims and objectives of the journal

Český časopis historický/The Czech Historical Review is a peer reviewed academic journal published by the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Since its inception in 1895, it has been the journal of record for the historical profession in Czech lands. Its aim is to present important findings of original research from all areas of history, with no regional or historical period being excluded. The journal publishes contributions on both Czech and Central European history, as well as topics related to other world regions. It fulfils an important mission by publishing review articles on current trends in historical sciences and theoretical and methodological reflections. It also welcomes interdisciplinary contributions. A significant space is devoted to an overview of recent academic production in the form of book reviews and literature reports. The journal provides essential information on developments in the historical community. The journal serves as a publishing platform for researchers from the Czech Republic and abroad. It is open to various academic trends, opinions, and schools.

The Czech Historical Review publishes peer-reviewed academic essays, research overviews, discussions, book reviews, and reports on domestic and international historiographical scholarship. It also provides essential information concerning academic life.

The journal is covered in the Scopus, DOAJ, ERIH PLUS, Recensio, EBSCO and Sherpa Romeo international databases.

The content of each issue can be accessed via the online platform H-Soz-u-Kult, while abstracts of papers are available in the CEJSH database. The journal is published four times a year in both print and online formats. Since 2012, the journal has been published in open access mode. All articles are made available in open access mode through the Digital Library of the CAS. The articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. The journal is a member of the Crossref registration agency and DOI identifiers are assigned to peer-reviewed articles, discussion papers and papers from the section Chronicle.

The journal does not charge authors for editing and publishing their articles.
