Abstrakt: The article analyses the development of the Czechoslovak Red Cross organisation in Subcarpathian Ruthenia from its beginning to the end of its activities. At the time when the region was part of the Czechoslovak state, radical changes occurred in many spheres of its social life, including healthcare. Subcarpathian Ruthenia remained one of the poorest regions of the state and its social and health conditions were critical. State programmes could not always meet all the needs of the population. Initially, the activity focused on attracting foreign missions, whose task was to provide the population with urgent humanitarian aid. Later, large distribution campaigns were gradually rebuilt and the introduction of a social and hygienic system began to be implemented. The Czechoslovak Red Cross proceeded to systematic work within the framework of its peace programme.
