Abstrakt: The study deals with the issue of handling historical memory in Bohemian and Moravian towns in the 16th century (with some overlaps into both the 15th and 17th centuries) and, above all, with the issue of its propagation. It asks whether it was primarily town chronicles that contributed to the dissemination of historical memory associated with a specific town, or whether other media of memory played a more important role. The study is divided into three parts: the first examines the representation of historical literature in the estate inventories of the residents of selected towns and also in the composition of school municipal libraries, the second focuses on other media of memory, and the last part pays attention to selected memory situations with regard to the role of individual media.
